KAREN BREITBACH, 57 ROSCOE - Karen Breitbach, 57, died Saturday, May 31, 2014 at home. Born January 2, 1957 in Rockford, the daughter of Roger and Janet (Ahle) Peterson. She graduated from Guilford High School in 1975 and received a Degree in Fine Arts from Rock Valley College. She went on to attend Arizona State University in the study of Graphic Design. Early after, she established her own company, KB and Me Designs and sold to many stores in the Rockford, Chicago and Southern Illinois areas. She was a loving mother and wife. Karen had a lifelong battle with Diabetes Type 1 and received two transplants performed at the University Hospital in Madison, WI and was robbed of her eyesight from this disease; an artist's most precious gift. This did not deter her and she kept abreast of the local art scene in Rockford, Madison, Chicago and Milwaukee and was an avid collector of new and established artists. In her mind's eye she could see it all given a description and feeling the object. She is survived by her husband, Daniel "Jim" Breitbach; son, Ryan Breitbach of Roscoe; brothers, Gary Peterson of Rockford and Mark Peterson of Copello, Texas; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her daughter, Ashley Janet Breitbach; parents; paternal grandparents, Harry and Mabel Peterson of Rockford; maternal grandparents, Martin and Hazel Ahle of Phoenix, Arizona and beloved uncle, Derrold Peterson of Rockford. A special thanks to Brenda Rubeck, our "special angel" for making Karen's last days, hours and minutes so much more comforting. There is no way to repay that; only love. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2014 with a visitation from 4 p.m. until service time in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe, IL 61073.
