DR. KEITH l. WRAGE, SR., 82 ROCKFORD - Dr. Keith L. Wrage, Sr., 82, of Rockford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, in Wesley Willows Health Center of Rockford. Born Sept. 18, 1931, in Madison, South Dakota, the son of Theodore J. Sr. and Kathryn L. (Eichel) Wrage. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1949; Phi Beta Kappa from USD, Vermillion; and earned his M.D. at Northwestern University School of Medicine in 1956. Keith completed his internship at Charles D. Miller Hospital in Saint Paul, Minn., and his Internal Medicine residency at Chicago Wesley Memorial Hospital. Keith was a Captain in the U.S. Army, serving at Camp Irwin in the Mojave Desert in California, and then working in the Bay Area as a private practice physician. He moved to Rockford in 1967 to work as an Internist and in the ER. Drs. Ellis, Osadjan, and Wrage started their own private practice in 1971, working together for decades. Keith worked closely with his Nurse Sue Bretl and with Peggy Sawdey in the office. He was involved in the Winnebago County Medical Society and President in 1976. He was a clinical assistant professor, University of IL College of Medicine of Rockford from 1971 to 1996. He loved teaching and pouring into his students. Keith was passionate about being a physician and was always devoted to his patients, taking the time to listen, answer questions, and comfort them. He was an avid fan of the Yankees, Cubs, Bears, and Bulls. Married in 1985, Keith and his wife Nancy enjoyed 28 wonderful years together. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; children, Karen (Gordy) Smith of Rockford, Lisa Wrage of Durham, N.C., Keith Jr. (April) of Rockford, and Jeffrey of Valparaiso, Ind.; step-children, David (Denise), and Brian (Jennifer) Black, and Christy (Michael) Dayton, all of Rockford; grandchildren, Tyler and Grayson Smith, Keith Wrage III, Kendall and Leo Wrage; step grandchildren, Amanda, Jenna, Lauren, Julia, Max, Kaleigh, and Braydon. Keith is also survived by his special canine companion Franky. Predeceased by his parents, daughter, Kristen, brother, Ted, Jr., and sister Kay. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Kirk's Place and Passages Hospice for all the support and loving care they provided to Keith and his family. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd., North Main Chapel, 2811 N. Main St., with Rev. Frank Moyer officiating. Funeral visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at North Main Chapel, and on Friday, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service in the chapel. Memorials to , 1111 S.
