KENNETH F. 'KEN' HANSON, 82 ROCKTON - Kenneth F. "Ken" Hanson, 82, of Rockton, IL and Vero Beach, FL, died Friday, April 25, 2014 in Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach, FL. He was born June 5, 1931 in Beloit, WI, the son of Fay and Ada (Reimer) Hanson. Ken was a 1949 graduate of South Beloit High School, South Beloit, IL. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Ken married Darlene Mackey on February 24, 1951 in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Beloit, WI. Ken was the owner of Beloit Pattern Works. He was a member of the Beloit Country Club, Vero Beach Country Club, South Beloit American Legion Holtz-Hirst Post #288, Rockton American Legion Post # 332, Vets Club in Florida, Moose Club in Vero Beach, FL, Vero Beach Eagles Club, Beloit Elks Lodge #864, South Beloit Businessman's Club and the South Beloit Lions Club. Ken was inducted to the Beloit Sports Hall of Fame in 2007 for South Beloit Football. Survivors include his wife, Darlene Hanson; daughter, Darla (Dennis) Stearns of Rockton, IL; daughter-in-law, Kim Hanson of Rockton, IL; grandchildren, Devin Stearns of White Fish Bay, WI, Colin Stearns of Skokie, IL, Brandon (Amber) Davies and Jessica (Mitch) Frost both of Beloit, WI; sister, Florice Shockley of South Beloit, IL; niece and nephews, Karen Murr of South Beloit, IL, Kenneth (Judy) VanLandegham of Beloit, WI, Bob (Kim) Shockley of South Beloit, IL, and Jim (Kim) Shockley of Loves Park, IL. He was predeceased by his parents; son, David L. Hanson; sister, Marion VanLandeghem; and brother-in-law, Homer Shockley. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Reverend Richard Meier officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
