LeRoy Mincemoyer Obituary
LEROY 'LEE' E. MINCEMOYER, 79 MONROE CENTER - LeRoy "Lee" E. Mincemoyer, 79, of Monroe Center passed away peacefully, with his son by his side, on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the Serenity House in Oregon, IL, after a brief illness. Born on February 11, 1934, in Fairdale, IL, the son of Francis W. and Kathryn (Gibson) Mincemoyer. He graduated from Monroe Center High School, class of 1952, excelling in basketball. Lee married the love of his life, Donna Jean Heivilin on March 15, 1953, in New Milford. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary earlier this year with a family dinner. Lee and Donna were the owners of Lee's Grocery, which he operated for 25 years, serving his friends and neighbors of Monroe Center. Along with taking orders and delivering groceries, the store was a welcome place for friends to gather. He was a Monroe Center volunteer fireman for many years, often driving the ambulance, and drove school bus for the Monroe Center schools. After selling the store and moving to Davis Junction, Lee worked at Borg Warner as a buyer until his retirement. Lee loved to fish at Lichty's pond every chance he got and always enjoyed his morning coffee with friends. He will be remembered always for his wit, his sense of humor, and for being a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Lee is lovingly survived by his dear wife of 60 years, Donna; son, David (Jodi) of Stillman Valley; brother, Keith (Julia) of Hardy, AK; grandchildren, David of Chicago and Daniel of Monroe Center (both his pride and joy), and Kyle of Los Angeles and Kelsey of Chicago (who he welcomed into his family and made them feel like his own); aunt, Betty Mincemoyer of Rockford. Also survived by several nieces and nephews and too many dear friends to mention. Predeceased by his parents; son, James; and uncle, Jack Mincemoyer. The family would like to express it's gratitude to the staffs at SwedishAmerican Heart Hospital and Serenity Hospice House for their loving care. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home in Stillman Valley. A private family memorial service will be held. Please send memorials to Serenity House, Oregon, IL.
