LORRAINE M. BENDER, 91 ROCKFORD - Lorraine M. Bender, 91, of Rockford, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Provena Saint Anne Center. Born April 15, 1922, in Rockford, daughter of Alfred and Olga (Bodin) Lien. Graduated from East High School. Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. Married Robert G. Bender Sr. on June 24, 1966, in Rockford. Employed by Amrock, Harlem High School and Woodward Governor. Member of Grace Lutheran Church and Women's Circle. She was a big supporter of Harlem High School. Lorraine loved doing yard work, was an avid golfer and a Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. Survivors include daughters, Marcia Durkee of Rockford, Margaret Cassata of Loves Park and Melinda (Al) Topicz of Florida; son, Mike Gringle of Arizona; stepchildren, Robert Bender Jr. of Arizona, Betty Klepoch of Michigan and James (Roz) Bender of Rockford; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, James (Sylvia) Bender of Rockford; and special niece, Lisa Peterson of Rockford. Predeceased by husband; son-in-law, Tom Cassata; and sisters, Helen Foust and Marian Flood. The family wishes to thank the staff at Provena Saint Anne Center, especially social worker and dear family friend, Kelly. Service at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 16, at Delehanty Funeral Home Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
