PAUL R. PETERSEN, 83 LOVES PARK - Paul R. Petersen, 83, born on October 12, 1929, to Jergen and Helen (O'Roke) Petersen in Rockford, IL passed away in his Loves Park home, July 10, 2013. Married Yvonne "Bonnie" (Huber) Petersen on July 24, 1953. Korean War Veteran, truck driver for Art Thomas, Piggly Wiggly, and Spector Freight System. Worked at Swedish American then retired to start his own lawn care service. Lifetime member and past commander at Loves Park VFW #9759. He took great pride in serving on the Honor Guard for fallen veterans. Greatest husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Survived by wife; children, Debbie (Craig) Moline, Mark Petersen, Steve (Diane) Petersen, Colleen "Kelly" (Rick) Petersen, and Marlene (Darryl) Donaldson; grandchildren, Fred (Amy), Paul (Tammy), Megan, Blake, Connor, Garrett, Tiffany, Amber, and Amanda; great-grandchildren, Tara, Jenna, Vera, Aurora, Milynn, Autumn, Brooklyn, Abbie, Domenica, and Weston; brothers, Jerry (Bobbi) Petersen, and Joe (Linda) Petersen; sister-in-law, Phyllis Huber; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Ginger and Bill Blythe. Predeceased by brothers, Eugene "Pete" and Elwynn "Buzz" Petersen; sister, Frances Young; and son-in-law, Doug Moline. Visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, in Sundberg Funeral Home, Ltd., 215 N. Sixth St., Rockford, IL, with funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
