PHILIP LEVEQUE QUANDT, 78 ROCKFORD - Philip Leveque Quandt, 78, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease and bone cancer. Philip was born in Rockford, to (professor) Claire L. and Dr. Eberhardt H. Quandt. He graduated from Saint John's Military Academy in Delafield, Wis. Philip married Clementine Burger Hendra on Feb. 7, 1970, at the Church by the Side of the Road in Rockton. Philip attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and was an inventor, farmer, French teacher and accomplished oboist. Philip played the oboe at Starlight Theater productions at Rock Valley College, as well as being the central figure in the Baroque Ensemble. Philip's family were no strangers to all things French, as he sought out French music, collectibles and especially French speakers. Philip is survived by loving wife, Clementine; children, Michael (Bryna) Quandt, Claire (Tom) Westrick and Katie (Michael) Farello; and grandchildren, Jonathan, Matthew, Heidi, Michael and Madison; and sister, Maurine (David) Brill. Clementine and her family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to friends and the people from Visiting Nurses Association for their kindness and caring. In lieu of flowers, memorials to VNA Hospice or to the National Parkinsons Foundation. Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Road.
