ROBERT HARRISON CLOTHIER, 94 ROSCOE - Robert Harrison Clothier, 94, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 29, 2012, in his home. Born Aug. 6, 1917, in Roscoe Township; son of Harrison and Maude (Reimer) Clothier. The family moved to Robert's lifetime home when he was a few months old. Robert graduated from Hononegah High School in 1935, and attended Beloit College. He then married his soulmate, Geraldine Campobello on Feb. 24, 1940. They were married for 62 years before Geraldine passed away March 12, 2002. Robert farmed his entire life in Roscoe township. He first farmed with his father and then with his son, Bill, and his grandchildren. He was very community-oriented, serving as a 4-H leader and coaching championship 4-H softball teams. He served on the Roscoe Township board and the Winnebago County Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Committee. Robert was the secretary of the Prairie Hill School board for 20 years, and coached basketball for the Prairie Hill boys before coaches were hired. He drove a school bus for 10 years and volunteered to drive the Prairie Hill basketball team for years. After his many years of dedication to the Prairie Hill School district, the gym at Prairie Hill School was named after him. He played and coached men's softball at Leland Park in his younger years. He worked many years at Peters Brother's Lumber and Fuel in the winter. The most treasured times of Robert's life were the days he was surrounded by his family.
