ROBERT J. ENGEBRETSON, 82 ROCKFORD - Robert J. Engebretson, 82, of Rockford, IL, died Tuesday, December 3, 2013, in Rockford Memorial Hospital. He was born October 29, 1931, in Beloit, WI, the son of Clarence and Helen (Hanlon) Engebretson. Robert was a 1950 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from June 15, 1951 until June 16, 1954. Robert married Carol E. Swanson on August 6, 1955, in St. Jude Catholic Church, Beloit, WI. She predeceased him on May 15, 2005. Robert was formerly employed by Forest Hills Country Club and then was the owner and operator of White Star Supper Club. He was a member of the American Legion West-Field Post #48. Robert was a hobbyist of woodworking. He was a Chicago Bear and Chicago Cubs fan. Robert had a sense of humor until his last day. Survivors include his children, Judy (Michael) Klentz of German Valley, IL, John (Aurora) Engebretson of Loves Park, IL, Laurie (Lance) Roser of Kenosha, WI and Jerry Engebretson of Machesney Park, IL; grandchildren, Holly Dirksen, Laura (Justin) Perkins, Andrew (Becca) Engebretson, Bryan Engebretson, Garrett Roser, Chelsea (fiancé, Michael) Roser, Kristin (David) Ramirez and Mallory (fiancé, Damon) Engebretson; great- grandchildren, Mikayla, Brayden, Jayda, AAliyah, Bridget and Claire; brother, Russell Engebretson of Beloit, WI; cousin, Tom Scott of Beloit, WI; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, brother, Clarence, two sisters-in-law, Pat Engebretson and Susie Engebretson. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 7, 2013, in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Fr. William Wentink officiating. Entombment will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, with Fr. Steven Sabo officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the funeral home.
