ROBERT D. 'BOB' ERICKSON, 84 ROCKFORD - Robert D. "Bob" Erickson, 84, of Rockford, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2014, in Alden Park Strathmoor Nursing Home. Born April 21, 1929, in Rockford, Illinois; the son of Elmer and Elna (Olson) Erickson. Bob attended East High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Marilyn Williams on April 3, 1954, in Janesville, Wis. Bob was employed with Amerock for 43 years, where he worked as a tool and die maker. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed square dancing for over 35 years. Bob was a member of Belvidere VFW Club and Salem Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; sons, Dave (Connie) of Durand, Kevin (Denise) of Loves Park, Brent of Rockford and Gregg (Teresa) Erickson of Lodi, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents; and siblings, Margaret Kjellgren, Violet Odegard, Delmer Erickson, Shirley Pecson, Gordon Erickson, Diane Knapp and Joan Allen. The family would like to thank OSF St. Anthony Medical Center and Alden Park Strathmoor for all the love and care they gave Bob. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, January 27, 2014, in Salem Lutheran Church, 1629 S. 6th St., Rockford, with Rev. William T. Dahlberg officiating. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens .
