ROBERT D. 'BOB' PEARSON, 83 MACHESNEY PARK - Robert D. "Bob" Pearson, 83, of Machesney Park passed away peacefully Saturday, April 5, 2014. Born February 15, 1931, in Rockford, the son of Manfred and Esther (Peterson) Pearson. He graduated from East High School, Class of 1949. Bob was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. Bob married Edith Strom in Loves Park in 1955. Retired from Excelsior Mfg. in 1996. Member of Loves Park Optimist Club and co-founder of Park Boys Baseball Assoc., where he also managed and coached for his sons for nearly a decade. Bob was a fan of all Chicago sports teams and loved to take long walks. He enjoyed playing instant lottery tickets and betting on the ponies. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Edith; daughter, Lori (Terry) Wincapaw; sons, Larry Pearson, Randy (Shelly Hall) Pearson, Jeffery Pearson and Greg (Hanne) Pearson; grandchildren, Chris, T.J., Tara, Alex, Jordan, Brooke, and Brandyn; many great-grandchildren, especially his little helper, Ashlin; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; grandson, Shane Wincapaw; and all of his siblings. The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers at Maple Crest Care Center, and a special thank you to his daughter-in-law, Hanne. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his name.
