ROBERT 'BOB' PLANTZ, 86 ROCKFORD - Robert "Bob" Plantz, 86, of Rockford passed away Monday, June 24, 2013, at Neighbors Nursing Home in Byron, IL, of natural causes. Bob was born on August 8, 1926, in Rockford, the son of Raymond and Stella Whitmore Plantz. He married Ruby Ruefer in Rockford in 1947. Bob was a member of Pelly Road Christian Fellowship. Left to share in his memory is wife, Ruby; children, Judy Timpe and Rick (Carol) Plantz; sister, Pat Cox; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Bob served in the United States Marine Corp for four years in Guam and Hawaii. He worked for Knox Motor Company for 33 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Teamsters Local 325. Thanks to extended friends and close neighbors for being like family to Bob and Ruby. The family would also like to thank Neighbors Nursing Home for being sweet and doing a wonderful job with Bob the short time that he was there. A service to celebrate Bob's life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Advantage Funeral Home, 7000 W. State St. in Rockford, with a visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Willwood Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Marine Corp.
