ROBERT JOSEPH STADTMUELLER, 78 ROCKFORD - Robert Joseph Stadtmueller, 78, of Rockford, died at the Madison, Wis., William S. Middleton VA Hospital at 6:20 a.m. Sunday, November 3, 2013. Born November 20, 1934, in Oshkosh, WI. Predeceased by parents, John and Anna (Binder) Stadtmueller. Graduated high school in 1953, from Chilton High School, Chilton Wisconsin. Served in the United States Army and stationed in Hawaii from 1951-1955, with an honorable discharge in 1961. Attended UW Oshkosh from 1956-1958. Attended Fond du lac Business School 1959. Married Phyllis Halfmann on October 8, 1960. Deceased siblings; sisters, Mary (Stadtmueller) Zentner, Katherine (Stadtmueller) Janssen, Margo (Stadtmueller) McHugh; brothers, John Stadtmueller and Leonard Stadtmueller. Living siblings, Franz (Sandy) Stadtmueller and Theresa (Jimmy) Schmelzle. Survived by his wife, Phyllis; daughters, Lorri (Dr. Theodore III) Ingrassia and Lynn Stadtmueller; grandchildren, Angela Ingrassia, (fiancé, Daniel Arwady) and Theodore Ingrassia IV. After marriage they settled in Green Bay Wisconsin and their Packer passion began. Prior to retiring Bob found his niche in car washing and was involved at Crown Car Wash in Oshkosh and Octopus in Albuquerque, NM, Madison, WI, and brought his family to Rockford, Illinois where he was part owner and general manager of Octopus Car wash from 1978-1990. After retiring he and Phyllis traveled the US for 14 years as rally and caravan hosts for Winnebago Itasca Travelers. The last seven years they wintered in Tucson, Arizona where he worked on site in the lapidary shop crafting jewelry. His love was traveling in a motor home, designing and creating jewelry, and spending time with his two grandchildren. He was also an active member for 28 years in Alpine Kiwanis, serving on numerous committees and Special Olympics track and field volunteer. He ushered at Holy Family church for many years and had been a parish member since 1978. The family would like to thank the staff of Saint Anthony's Hospital, Van Matre Rehabilitation Hospital and the Madison Wisconsin, William S Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital Community Living Center, for their skilled compassionate care. Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 7, at Holy Family Catholic Church, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
