THOMAS 'TOM' A. LANE, 61 SHOREVIEW, Minn. - Thomas "Tom" A. Lane, 61, of Shoreview, died suddenly Monday, Feb. 11, 2013. He was born April 26, 1951, in Rockford, Ill., to Donald R. and Evelyn (Bakke) Lane. He graduated from Auburn High School in 1969. Tom graduated from Bradley University with a degree in electrical engineering and then attended the University of Illinois receiving a master's degree in electrical engineering. While in high school he taught guitar at Guzzardo School of Music and his love of music lasted his entire life. His engineering career included high technology companies, most recently working on medical technology at Medtronics in Minnesota. He was admired and well respected as a senior engineer by his peers. Tom developed many loyal friends due to his caring and positive attitude. His thirst for knowledge continued throughout his life. Tom is survived by his wife, Wendy (Bachman) Lane of Shoreview; daughter, Erin Lane of Minneapolis; son, John Lane of St. Paul; the mother of his children, Mary (McHugh) Lane of Minneapolis; stepsons, Dan and Dave Bachman of Mankato; sister, Phyllis (Pete) Bonavia of Rockford; nephews, Peter (Sarah) Bonavia of Pineville, N.C., Dave (Genny) Bonavia of Loves Park, Ill., Dan Bonavia of Terre Haute, Ind.; niece, Mary Bonavia of Rockford; and many other dear family and friends. Predeceased by son, Brian Lane, and parents. Services were held Saturday, Feb. 16, at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Eagan, Minn.
