WALLACE BARRETTE, 83 ROCKFORD - Wallace Barrette, 83, of Rockford died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. Born Jan. 2, 1930, in Green Bay, Wis., the son of Joseph and Emma Barrette. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in the Korean War. Married his loving wife Gloria Konop on July 9, 1954, in Spruce, Wis. Wallace graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in mechanical engineering. He spent the majority of his life until retirement at Barber Colman's in Rockford. A member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the VFW in Loves Park. Wallace also took time to enjoy square dancing, coin and stamp collecting, the outdoors and traveling. He took the most pride in raising his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Gloria of Rockford; son, Tim Barrette of Rockford; daughters, Holly Pohlman of Belvidere and Tammy (Lyle) Abbott of LaGrange, Ky.; and grandchildren, Robert, William and Laurie. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant grandson, Tom; son-in-law, James Pohlman; and sister, Betty Barrette. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave. Entombment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum, Winnebago. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N.
