WILLIAM S. JOHNSTON JR., 53 PHOENIX, AZ - William S. Johnston, Jr., also known as Jr., Junie and J.R., 53, formerly of Rockford, IL passed away on July 21, 2013, in Phoenix, AZ, following a short illness. JR, was born in Beloit, WI to William S. Johnston Sr., and Ethel M. (Redmond) Johnston on September 3, 1959. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Rockford, IL in June of 1977. He was a veteran of the United States Marines Corps and served our country proudly overseas. JR also worked as an over the road truck driver. He was an active member of the Alano Club, in Rockford, IL where he was widely respected as a mentor, sponsor and friend. He received numerous honorary medallions and certificates of achievement. JR, was predeceased by his sister, Victoria Lynn Johnston; paternal grandparents, Perry C., Ruth Johnston and Lucille Johnston; maternal grandparents, James T. and Operline Redmond; and father, William S. Johnston, Sr. JR, is survived by his mother, Ethel M. Johnston, Laveen, AZ; his daughter, Renea Johnston, Rockford, IL; two sisters, Stacy (Dwayne) Johnston-Collins of Rockford, IL and Jana Johnston, Laveen, AZ; two nieces, Kiera and Ariel; a nephew, Isiah; and a great-niece, KiLece. A Memorial/Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2013, at the Alano Club, 1210 11th Street, Rockford, IL 61104. Memorials may be made to the family or The Alano Club.
