WINTERVILLE - Alonzo Miller "Bud" McDonald Jr., 74, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014. He was surrounded by the love of his family at the time of his passing.
The funeral service will be held at the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel located on East 5th Street in Greenville on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Homestead Memorial Gardens on East 10th Street in Greenville.
Bud McDonald served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He served as a Military Intelligence Officer with tours of duty that consisted of the Vietnam War and numerous other assignments around the world.
Mr. McDonald loved his God and served him at Gateway Christian Center in Winterville where he was a member for the last 24 years. When not with family or at church, Bud McDonald could be found fellowshipping with his morning friends at Harvey's Restaurant in Greenville.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Sam McDonald and Jim McDonald; and sisters, Jean Schmittz and Shirley Yeargen.
Mr. McDonald is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Linda Conney McDonald; daughters, Tammy Sue McDonald of Kernersville, Cathy McDonald Williams and husband, Carlton; and son, Scott Miller McDonald, all of Greenville. Mr. McDonald was a loving grandfather to Michael Price of Kernersville, Corey Rivera of Jacksonville, Paul Rivera, Seth Williams, Joshua Williams, Jordan Williams, and Kayla McDonald all of Greenville. His great-grandchildren are Mason Brackob, Madison Price, both of Kernersville, and Maddox Rivera of Greenville. He is also survived by his brother Brad McDonald of St. Paul; and sisters, Elsie Brisson of Wilmington, Louise Caine of Bladen County, and Nell Cason of Greensboro.
The family visitation will be held tonight at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6 to 9. At other times the family visitation will be at 2112 Leon Drive in Greenville.
