Mr. Marvin Lee Hamm, 81, went to be with the good Lord on July 19, 2013. Graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Mausoleum at Pinewood Memorial Park with full military honors.

Mr. Marvin, son of the late Moses Lee and Farron Jackson Hamm, was a native resident of Pitt County, currently residing in Greenville. A veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars, he served 26 years in the United States Marines and retired as a Master Sergeant. He was awarded the purple heart for being wounded twice in combat along with numerous awards and decorations of valor. He was a Master Mason and a member of the William Pitt lodge #734.
After retiring from the Marines, he was employed at Hendricks Barnhill and then at DSM as a security guard until he retired in 2008.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Jean B. Hamm.
Mr. Hamm is survived by nieces, Paulette Cole and husband, Hunter, and Martie Raymond and husband, Robert; life-long friend and caregiver, Henrietta Beachum; his loving "girls," Donna Beachum, Wendy Beachum, and Victoria Insinga; and long-time friends Betty Chambers, Tonya Williams and her son, Hunter, Kathy Marden, and Louise "Weegie" Pearman.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
