Dr. Michael Steven Meloth, 59, passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2013. A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Smith Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.
Michael, son of the late Bud and Peg Meloth, was born and raised in Southern California. He was a graduate of Boise State University and earned a Doctorate degree in Educational Psychology from Michigan State University. While at Michigan State, he met his future wife, Nancy, whom he wed on Nov. 22, 1995. Michael taught at the University of Colorado at Boulder for 14 years, Albion College, and most recently at East Carolina University since 2007. He was truly loved by all of his students. He was brilliant, funny, and his household was never dull. He loved his family, the outdoors, was an avid reader and a barista.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Nicholas and Emmajean Meloth, all of the home; dogs, Puckett and Dottie; six cats; sister, Gretchen Meloth of Shady Cove, Ore.; brothers, Tom Meloth and wife, Megan, of Santa Monica, Calif. and Doug Meloth and wife, Rhonda of San Francisco; one niece and one nephew.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, 355 Lexington Ave, 15th Floor, New York, New York 10017.
