LTC (Ret) Nathaniel "Nate' William Perkins entered into rest on August 8, 2013 at Atlanta Medical Center, Atlanta, Georgia following an unexpected illness. He was a organ donor
Nate is a 24 year combat veteran. He served in the United States Army for 24 years in the field of Telecommunications and information Technology Warfare. He medically retired in March 2003. At the time of his retirement, he served as Chief of Information Assurance at U.S. Army Forces Command, Fort McPherson, Georgia.
He graduated from J.H. Rose High School in 1974 with honors. Nate entered the U.S. Army in 1979 after graduating from Winston-Salem State University with a B.S. Degree in Health and Physical Education and a Minor in History. He later received his Master's Degree in Information and Technology Science from the University of Texas at Killeen. During his distinguished military career, he graduated from Command and General Staff College and the National War College. Nate deployed to Southwest Asia in support of the Gulf War and received a Bronze Star.
He is survived by his two daughters, Natrina Perkins Lawson and Natricia Perkins; mother, Lula Mae Perkins; sisters, Mable Clark, Dianna Freeman, Glorteen Ward and Brenda Kay Davis; brothers, Tyrone Perkins, Bobby Staton and Jimmy Ward; nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
He will be cremated today.
