Jack Tirrill (65) of Eugene, passed away on Aug. 4, 2014 in Portland. Funeral services will be at noon on Tues., Aug. 12 at Willakenzie Community Church (3040 Willakenzie Rd.), with a viewing at 11 am. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Andreason's.

Jack was born in Everett, WA, to Emery "Slim" and Adaline Tirrill on June 29, 1949. He married Luwayne Westerlund on Aug. 8, 1970 in Eugene. Jack served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He attended Azusa Pacific College and worked with Youth for Christ in southern California and the Willamette Valley. He was a general contractor for Tirrill Brothers Construction.

Jack attended Willakenzie Community Church and was an engaged community member wherever he lived. He walked with youth and families, guiding groups in play, in learning, and in prayer. He always left an empty chair in every circle to welcome the latecomer. He visited the lonely and built relationships with more folks than we will ever know. His life reflected his deep love for God and desire to share that love in practical ways.

Jack is survived by his wife, Luwayne; three children, Kim and Bryan Boyd (Emma, Mykel and Sara) of Newberg, OR, Brandon and Megan Tirrill (Jacob and Ellie) of Springfield, and Kelly and Brian Becker Tirrill of San Diego, CA; and three siblings, Don Tirrill of Rogue River, OR, Sharon Tirrill, of Bellingham, WA, and Joyce Mumau of Salem, OR.
