James Arthur Manthey, Sr., 74, of Loveland, CO., joined his beloved wife Sussann, in heaven, on January 22, 2013. They were married March 5, 1971 and although not by her side, he spoke with her every day after her passing in 2005. He was born May 25, 1938 in Milford, Nebraska. James grew up on the family farm in Windsor. He was the only child of Olga K. Manthey and Arthur W. Manthey. At 17 years of age he attempted to join the army. His genealogy contacts in Russia caused concern for them. He immediately walked across the street and joined The United States Air Force. He served four years and received a "Good Conduct Medal". James had a passion for books, antiques and history. He turned that love into a career and hobby. He was a long time "flea marketer" and store owner in Denver, Commerce City and Loveland. If you met Jim you would remember him. He found joy in making you smile. If he had a new joke, you could bet he'd tell it to you. Jim spent the last year of his life enjoying the people who came to see him, especially the lovely staff with Meals on Wheels in Loveland. He was an animal lover and felt blessed to have his dog Angel as a constant companion. James is survived by his children, Cassandra Manthey of Greeley, James Manthey Jr. of Grand Junction, Barbara Franks (Glenn) of Lakewood, Patricia Perez (Rick) of Thornton, Tamara Manthey of Wheatridge and Thomas Manthey of Denver. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Tristan Perez, Nathan Manthey, Cole Perez and Evan Perez. A funeral service will be held at Kibbey Fishburn Funeral Home, 1102 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland, CO 80537 on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 11:00 am. Viewing will be from 9:00 - 11:00 am, Monday, prior to the service. Interment will follow at Loveland Burial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels in care of Kibbey Fishburn Funeral Home.
