Nora Mae Newton, 96, of Ogden, Utah, went to be with her Heavenly Father on June 21, 2013 at Mountain View Health Service in Ogden, Utah. Nora was born April 4, 1917, at Rolla, Morton County, Kansas, the daughter of Willie Artist and Truella(Lewis) Ward. She graduated from Rolla, Kansas High School in 1935. After graduation she moved to Las Vegas, New Mexico where she met and married Aubie Lee Newton on June 1, 1938. After Aubie received his master's degree from Colorado State Teachers College, the couple moved to Eagles Nest, New Mexico and then to Clarksdale, Arizona where Aubie taught school. In April 1944, after being drafted, Aubie spent 21 months in the US Navy, 15 months of which were at Oakland, California where Nora and family were able to be with him. After being discharged from the Navy the couple moved their family to Springer, New Mexico where Aubie taught school. In 1947, Aubie accepted a position of Superintendent of schools at Deaver, Wyoming which he held for 8 years. In 1955 he became Superintendent of Schools at Evanston, Wyoming and held that position for 20 years, retiring in 1975. Nora was very active in her community and a 55 year member and officer of the Evanston Chapter of Eastern Star. Nora was noted as an outstanding homemaker and seamstress. In 1959, she won the Wyoming State Ladies Literary Club's sewing contest. After Aubie's retirement the couple made their home at Hugoton, Kansas where Nora cared for her mother. In 1982 Nora and Aubie moved to Loveland, Colorado and after failing health Nora became a resident at Mountain View Nursing Home in Ogden, Utah. Nora is survived by her son William "Bill" Newton of Ogden, Utah, her son-in-law Kurt W. Webber of Bismarck, ND; 6 grandchildren; Doug Webber, Steve Webber, Wendy Webber Zamora, Robert Newton, Janna Newton Holmes, and Bradley Newton; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, two brothers Jim Ward of Lavaca, Arkansas and Lewis Ward of Paris, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubie Newton, her daughter, Ruth Ann, her daughter Mary Lois, 2 sisters and her parents. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Allnutt Funeral Service in Loveland. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Interment Loveland Burial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital or Galilee Baptist Church in care of Allnutt Funeral Service.
