Norris Kitchen Obituary
Norris "Red" Kitchen, 92, of Estes Park passed away peacefully on January 6, 2014. Red was born on June 7, 1921 at the Masonville Store which his parents, Edward and Sadie (Clarkson) Kitchen, owned. He was the 4th of 5 children. He spent his early years cutting timber and working at the store. He met Nellie "Toni" Rogers at a dance in Masonville and they were married in 1939. Red served in the Army in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Red and Toni lived in Masonville where they built and sold several houses. In 1970 they moved to Estes Park where they started what is now Kitchen and Company Excavating. They were married for almost 72 years before Toni passed away in 2010. Red was preceded in death by his four siblings: Frances Wiley, Wes Kitchen, Sue McWhorter and John Kitchen. He is survived by son Ed (Joyce) Kitchen of Estes Park and daughter Moneta (Buck) Harmon of Loveland, sisters-in-law Bette Kitchen and Shirley Rogers, brother-in-law Bill Rogers, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many life-long friends. Cremation has been conducted. A memorial service will be held at Buckhorn Presbyterian Church in Masonville on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 2pm.
