Robert O'Gorman Obituary
Robert (Bob) John O'Gorman, 88, passed away at home Saturday, May 11th, 2013. Robert was born in Washington, DC to John Patrick and Margret O'Gorman on November 9th, 1924. He was raised by his Grandmother, Margaret Ridgeway on a farm where Dulles Airport is now operating. Life on the farm was difficult during the Depression and it made working hard a part of his everyday life. Bob enlisted in the Army Airforce and served in the Pacific Theatre. It was during his training in the service when he was stationed in Woodward, Oklahoma, that he met his wife, Erma Faye Thomas, who was working as a waitress at a coffee shop. Bob declared to his friend with him that he was going to marry that girl. They were married January 30, 1944, were blessed with 6 children, and had 69 loving years together. Bob always loved the Lord, his family, and his many friends. After WW II was over, the couple moved to Virginia from Oklahoma in 1951 where Bob worked as a painter and plasterer. At one point he had 50 employees and a large fleet of trucks at Riteway Drywall and Insulation in Charlottesville, VA. During the 1970's, Bob got the calling to become a pastor which inspired him to move his family to Lynchburg, VA to attend seminary. He graduated from Lynchburg Baptist College and ran the Special Education Department for the Thomas Roads Baptist Church. After serving in Lynchburg, Bob moved to Loveland in 1987 to assist his son in building Loveland Sculpture Works. Thereafter, his son opened another foundry called Bronze Services where Bob finished his working days as the Mr. Do Everything/Anything and was the tour guide extraordinaire utilizing his special talent of making everyone feel welcome. Bob is survived by his wife of 69 years, Faye, and son Robert Joe O'Gorman (Judy) of Fremont, Nebraska, daughter Faye Jeanette Watson, son Thomas (Judy) O'Gorman, daughter Karen (Mike) Snyder, and son Kenneth O'Gorman, all of Loveland. 14 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. Brother Charles (Bozie) and Shirley Snyder, Ocala, Florida, sisters Lois (Jim) Hawk, Topeka, Kansas, Dot (Jim) Smith, Florence, South Carolina, and Florence Gish, Woodbridge, Virginia. He is preceded in death by his grandmother Margaret Ridgeway, mother Margaret O'Gorman, his father John Patrick O'Gorman, his sister Elizabeth Morrison, and son Pat O'Gorman. A viewing for Bob (aka Cletis) will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday, May 15th at the Allnutt Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, May 16th, 2013 at Crossroads Covenant Church in Loveland. There will be a procession to Resthaven Memory Gardens with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice in care of Allnut Funeral Home.
