Robert Vetter Obituary
After a valiant battle with cancer, Bob passed away June 21, 2013. Bob was born and raised in Cripple Creek, Colorado, graduating from Cripple Creek High School in 1945. He enlisted in the US Navy and served on the Destroyer Escort USS Coolbaugh. After his discharge, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Lu Haywood, and they raised three daughters, Teresa, Nancy and Kimberly. The family came to Loveland in 1963. Bob's career as a heavy equipment operator began at an early age, working with his father and brother as Vetter and Sons, hauling ore from the mines in the Cripple Creek District. After coming to Loveland, he continued his career in heavy construction, helping build projects throughout the western United States. The locations of his jobs led to many fun family adventures. He retired in 1992. Bob's green thumb cultivated a beautiful vegetable garden each summer, but he was always searching for the perfect tomato. Bob was a lifetime member and Past Exalted Ruler of BPOE #316 in Cripple Creek. He was also a member of the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association. Bob will be lovingly missed by his wife, Mary Lu, daughters and sons-in-law Teresa and Bruce Hinde, Nancy and Allan Havens, Kimberly and Bryan Matzdorff, and granddaughter, Jessica Hinde. His inurnment will be in the Elk's Rest at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Cripple Creek. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of Pathways Hospice, especially those at the Hospice Care Center at McKee Medical Center, for their compassion and kindness. We ask that memorial contributions be directed to this amazing group of dedicated professionals. Go to www.viegutfuneralhome.com for condolences.
