Wayne Zimmerman Obituary

Wayne Allen Zimmerman, 79, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 3, 2012, after a two decade battle with heart disease. An inspirational resident of the Loveland community for 33 years, he will be dearly missed.

The son of Amos Beatty Zimmerman and Cleva Mae Greenwalt Zimmerman, Wayne was born in Muncie, Indiana, on December 30, 1932. He grew up attending schools in Muncie and graduated with a BS degree in 1955 from Ball State University. On June 14, 1953, Wayne married the love of his life, Marilyn Marie Lippert, in Muncie. They moved to Denver in 1955 and then relocated to Loveland in 1979.

Wayne was employed by Allstate Insurance for 36 years, 21 years as an underwriter in the Denver regional office and 15 years as a senior account agent in Loveland. Passionate about his faith, Wayne served his Lord as an elder at Faith Evangelical Church for eight years. Many in the community benefitted from his gentle and generous spirit whether he was praying for and helping widows or filling backpacks for the KidsPak Program. He was a member of the Loveland Rotary Club and on the board of the Loveland Performing Arts Association. Wayne's delight was spending time with family. He also enjoyed traveling - especially to Maui and Europe - fishing, photography, and woodworking.

Throughout every aspect of his life, Wayne lived out his faith and his values. Selfless, compassionate, and respectful, Wayne made everyone he encountered feel important and valued. No problem or conversation was too big or too small for Wayne's attention. His life was worth emulating; therefore, Wayne's children, grandchildren and countless others have learned much about being a man of God, an employee, a father, a husband, a friend.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Zimmerman. He is survived by his loving and treasured wife of 59 years, Marilyn; his son, Dean Zimmerman and wife Nikki of Loveland; daughter, Lynne Doe and husband Douglas of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren, Sarah, Sydney, Timothy, and Sam Zimmerman, and Carolina and Teddy Doe; and sister-in-law Jane Zimmerman of Muncie, Indiana.

Services will be at Faith Evangelical Church, 2707 N. Wilson Ave, in Loveland at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 11. The burial will be in Loveland Burial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Evangelical Church or to World Vision, at worldvision.org or 1.888.511.6443.
