FLEMING (James) - "Jim" March 20, 1925 - August 18, 2014 Jim was born in Motherwell, Scotland, on March 20, 1925 and passed away at Richmond General Hospital Monday August 18, 2014 with family at his side. He immigrated to Vancouver at the age of 2 ½ and has resided in Richmond since 1956. He served overseas in WWII with the South Saskatchewan Regiment. He never missed attending a Remembrance Day Service. Jim proudly served 32 years in the Vancouver Police Force retiring in March 1980. He was so happy to have been a part of the original Vancouver Motorcycle Drill Team. Jim was an active member of the Army Navy Airforce Veterans in Canada #284 (Steveston) and #298 (Taurus Unit), the Royal Canadian Legion #291 and 12 Service Battalion. He enjoyed building his "Castle" at Murray Lake, fishing, golfing, snooker and dancing to the big band era music. Special thanks to the Heart Team at St. Paul's Hospital and also Dr. Anthony S.Y. Chui & Dr. L.N. Brown. Jim will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 65 years Patricia, his son Richard (Nicole) Fleming, daughters Debbie (Simon) Dengel, Cathy (Mike) Boyarski. Predeceased by his beloved grandson Jamie Dengel. Also survived by brother Bill (Mary) Fleming, brother-in-law Donald (Gerry) McGillivray and blessed with several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephew. In lieu of flowers donations gratefully accepted to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or South Arm United Church. Celebration of Life to be held: Saturday August 30th, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. South Arm United Church (corner of No.3 Road & Steveston Hwy) Richmond, B.C.
