Henrietta Philpot Knapp, 77, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at her home.

She was born Dec. 25, 1935, in Kayjay, Ky., the daughter of Delbert and Naomi Carter Philpot.
She graduated from Carson-Newman College with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She retired in 2001 from the Roane County school system, where she was a school teacher.
She was a member of Oak Ridge First Baptist Church, the Tennessee Education Association and the National Teachers Association. She enjoyed keeping mementos of her students and teaching years and reminiscing of special times.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Edward A. Knapp, in 1986.
She is survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews, including Mack McGuffin, Richard McGuffin, Kathleen Davis, Audrey Farrell, Shelby Stanfield and Gene Hampton. She is also survived by her uncle, Alex Carter, who was her caretaker.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 7, in Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge. The funeral will follow at noon, with Dr. Tim Borchert officiating.
