NASHVILLE - James "Jimmy" Earl Braddy, Sr., age 62, of Nashville, NC, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2014.
A celebration of his life will be held at Carlisle Funeral Home in Tarboro on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 3:00 pm.
He was born on March 18, 1951 in Halifax County to the late Julius and Hazel Braddy.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Alton and Joe Braddy.
Jimmy leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife of 32 years, Margaret Braddy; children, James Braddy Jr. and fiancé Amber, Katie Braddy Shay, Stephanie Braddy Boone and husband Tracy, and Jonathan Braddy. He was a loving grandfather to Raven, Ava, Mario, Trey, Delilah and Riley. He wasn't always there but he loved his brother, Cecil Braddy; sisters, Carolyn Cooper, Edith Braddy and Glenda Owens; a very dear to his heart niece, Shannon Turner, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
He served in the Vietnam War as a PFC in the 18th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division in Fort Riley, Kansas, 5th US Army. After 2 years of service he was honorably discharged. He also worked 20 plus years at Fontaine Fifth Wheel. Jimmy was an enthusiastic fan of Elvis Presley, westerns, Jim Beam, and could cook anything. He will be missed and loved forever.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 2:00-3:00 pm on Saturday at Carlisle Funeral Home.
