NASHVILLE - Thomas Isaac Rogers, Jr., 69, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013. He was born in Wilson County January 20, 1943 to the late Thomas Isaac and Louise Barnes Rogers. He served on the Nashville town council for eleven years and also served as a fireman and auxiliary policeman with the Town of Nashville. He was also a baseball coach and a scout master. Mr. Rogers was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rocky Mount where he served as an usher and a member of the American Legion. He gave tirelessly of himself and never asked for anything. Mr. Rogers loved everyone and never met a stranger. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia Abbott Rogers; sons, Grant Rogers (Lovey), Patrick Rogers (Amber); sisters, Nancy R. Griffin, Lucy R. Watson; grandchildren, Miller Thomas Rogers, McKenna Leigh Rogers, Cameron Mizell, Lauren Mizell, Cody Schaefer, and great grandchild, Vandin Schaefer. He was preceded in death by his brothers, William Allen Rogers and Adelia Rogers Cooper.
A memorial service will be held 6:00 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2013 at Cornerstone Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Greener officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the home of Patrick and Amber Rogers, 6143 Saddlehorn Drive, Rocky Mount.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Nursing Scholarship Fund of Lauren Mizell, P.O. Box 1005, Nashville, NC 27856.
