WEST RUTLAND - The Rev. Adam J. Krempa, 82, of West Rutland, died October 4, 2013, at Mountain View Center.

He was born on April 30, 1931, the son of John and Sophia (Jagodzinski) Krempa.

He attended Mount St. Joseph Academy in Rutland and was a graduate of Pope John XXIII National Seminary in Weston, Mass.

He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran.

He was employed by Central Vermont Public Service Corp. for 35 years.

He was ordained to the priesthood on June 2, 1990, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception by Bishop John A. Marshall.

Fr. Krempa's priestly ministry began as parochial vicar at St. Anthony, Bethel (6/20/1990 to 6/15/1993). He also served at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Middlebury (6/15/1993 to 6/23/1999) and St. Robert, Chittenden and Our Lady of the Mountains, Killington (6/16/1996 to 6/23/1999). His first pastorate was at St. Anne, Middletown Springs and St. Francis Cabrini, West Pawlet (6/23/1999 to 6/20/2001). He also served as pastor at St. Raphael, Poultney (6/2 000 to 1 9/2010) and as administrator for St. Anne, Middletown Springs (7/15/2002 to 1 9/2010.

Fr. Krempa was granted priestly status on November 29, 2010.

Surviving are his sister, Jane Kelley and her husband Robert of West Rutland; a brother, John Krempa of West Rutland; nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Stanley and Frank Krempa, and by sisters, Sister Mary Helene of the Felician Sisters of Enfield, Conn., Micoline Jakubowski, Anna Castle and Mary Tracy.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 10, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in West Rutland.

Officiating will be The Most Reverend Salvatore R. Matano, Bishop of Burlington.

Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland and West Rutland.
