SPRINGFIELD - Anne H. Simone, 70, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at Bay State Medical Center in Springfield, Mass.

She was born Jan. 9, 1942, in Bridgeport, Conn., the daughter of John and Mary Cornelia (Mcdonald) Brown.
She graduated in 1959 from Stratford (Conn.) High School, attended the University of Bridgeport and graduated in 1962 from the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing where she received the Rose Shine Award for excellence in bedside nursing.
After working at the Bridgeport (Conn.) Hospital, Ms. Simone was employed in Springfield at local nursing homes and the Visiting Nurse Association for a short time. From 1980 until retiring in 2006, she worked at Springfield Hospital, in the Emergency Department for many years and in the Clinic the last few years.
After retirement, she volunteered at the Red Cross blood drives, the Senior Center and the voting polls, all in Springfield. She also enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include two children, Donald Simone of Las Vegas, Nev., and Laura Camacho of Lake Mary, Fla.; a granddaughter; a sister, Cornelia "Bonnie" Wallin of Lebanon, N.H.; a niece and nephew.
The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield with the Rev. Gerry Piper, pastor of United Methodist Church in Springfield, officiating.
