HARTFORD - David C. Blanchard, 56, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, at Rutland Health Care and Rehab in Rutland.

He was born in Portsmouth, Va., the son of Charles G. and Alyce (Payne) Blanchard.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and lived most of his life in Vermont.

He had worked as a prep cook at the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River Junction, and attended Praise Chapel in Hartford.

He enjoyed socializing with his friends.

Survivors include a sister, Marion Smith of Gloversville, N.Y.; two brothers, Paul Blanchard of Florida, and Louis Gaudette of New York; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Valerie and a brother, Edward.

A graveside memorial gathering with military honors will be held in the spring at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center. There are no calling hours.
