Edward J. Griffiths Sr., 70, died April 2, 2014, in Rutland.

He was born in Jeannette, PA, Nov. 28, 1943, son of George and Anna (Trout) Griffiths.

Ed was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran.

He attended art school, welding school and was a licensed locksmith.

Ed was a kind and generous man, noted for his amazing Christmas displays. He was a talented artist and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was employed by Rutland City Recreation and Parks Dept. for 30 years. He also worked at Royal Glass Co.

Surviving are his wife, Maureen (McGinnis) Griffiths of Rutland; three stepdaughters, Debbie (Walter) Griffin of Whitehall, NY, Kathy Anderson (Eric Mclaren) of Florence, and Jeanne (Paul) Ferguson of Clemons, NY; three brothers, Bill (Mary) Griffiths, Ronald (Cindy) Griffiths, and Charles Griffiths; two sisters, Margaret (James) Mollick and Carol (Richard) Creech; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his former wife, Patricia L. Griffiths in 2000; a son, Edward J. Griffiths Jr. in 1996; a brother, George Griffiths; and a sister, Mary Griffiths.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2014, in the Clifford Funeral Home.

A celebration of his life will follow the service.
