Florence E. Clough, 87, died Sept. 16, 2013, at Mountain View Genesis Center.

She was born in North Adams, Mass., Sept. 23, 1925, daughter of William C. and Rosella (Smith) Southgate.

She was a 1943 graduate of Drury High School in North Adams, Mass.

She was employed by Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams, Mass., for 35 years as a purchasing agent, retiring in 1979.

She was a member of the Stamford Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, and Vermont State Fire Fighters Auxiliary, where she was state president from 1965 to 1968.

She enjoyed bowling and golf.

Survivors include husband, Arnold R. Clough Sr. of Rutland; two stepsons, Arnold R. Clough Jr. of Rutland and Richard Clough of Maryland; and several step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by siblings, Howard, William and Arthur Southgate, Rosellen Shea, Annamae Kendrick, Ada Gates, Grace George and Bertha Lewis.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in Millard Cemetery in Stamford.

There are no calling hours or services planned at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stamford Volunteer Fire Department, 142 Stebbins Lane, Stamford, VT 05352.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home.
