HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. - Gail Theresa Godek Harwood, 62, died Jan. 17, 2014.

She was born Nov. 22, 1951, in Blythe, Calif., the daughter of John William and Catherine (Congdon) Godek.
She was raised in Bennington and had been a resident of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., for the past 25 years.
She received her education in Bennington, and graduated from Mount Anthony Union High School in 1969. She received a degree in education from MCLA in 1973.
She worked as a teacher in Bennington for 40 years.
She was a member of the American Association of University Women, Delta Kappa Gamma and the Committee for Bennington's Relay for Life.
Later in life, she started running and was part of the women's marathon training group, Running for More, completing three marathons and many half-marathons.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, James Harwood; two daughters, Melissa Senecal and Meaghan Harwood; a granddaughter; her father, John Godek; a sister, Patricia Chamberlin; a brother, John Godek; her stepmother, Clare Godek; and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Jan. 25, with calling hours beginning at 10 a.m. and a spiritual service beginning at 1 p.m., at Mahar and Son Funeral Home. After the services, there will be a reception at the Elks Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Patient Resource Fund at the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center.
