RUTLAND TOWN - James L. Goodwin, 87, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 30, 1925, in Horse Branch, Ky., the son of Bert and Velsie (Lunsford) Goodwin.
He was educated in schools in Kentucky and Illinois, before enlisting in the Navy.
He was a career U.S. Navy Veteran, serving for 26 years during World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam, retiring in 1968.
He was employed for more than 20 years with Central Vermont Public Service Corp.
He was a member of American Legion Post #31, the V.F.W., Rutland Country Club, and Pico Ski Club.
Survivors include his wife Mary (Keefe) Goodwin of Rutland; two sons, Kevin Goodwin of Virginia Beach, Va., and Sean Goodwin of Woburn, Mass.; three grandchildren and four great-granddaughters; two sisters, Barbara Hendricks and Wanda White; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, David and Ralph, and by three sisters, Donna, Evelyn and Elleria.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Christ the King Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Justin Baker, pastor. A reception will follow.
Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday, Feb. 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
