SAN DIEGO, Calif. - John R. Catozzi, 63, died March 23, 2013, at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego of a heart attack.

He was born in Rutland, VT, and graduated from Rutland High School in 1968. He was also a graduate of the University of Vermont, and did graduate work at the University of California Los Angeles.
Mr. Catozzi was a senior software architect for Teradata Corporation until his death in 2013.
John was an avid skier and spent a lot of his time at Mammoth Mountain, California, skiing, ski racing and running his ski and race camp.
He was married to Jennifer Peterson in 1991.
John knew how to live life. He held a true grasp of the greater scheme of it all, and only took the steps in life that would make him happy. He pursued his dreams, and above all else, insisted that everyone do the same. As he would put it, "Life is too short to drink bad wine."
Survivors include his two sons, Maxwell J. Catozzi and Jackson C. Catozzi of San Diego, CA; and four brothers, James E. Catozzi of Newtown, PA, Louis P. Catozzi of Round Rock, TX, William A. Catozzi of Centerville, MA, and Joseph M. Catozzi of Barre, VT.
Cremation was Friday, March 29, 2013, in San Diego, CA. A family memorial celebration of his life was held on Saturday, March 30th, in San Diego, CA. Another memorial service will be held in San Diego in May 2013.
