GRANVILLE, N.Y. - Leo J. Clairmont Jr., 84, died Tuesday, July, 23, 2013, at Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington.He was born in Watervliet, N.Y., the son of Leo J. Clairmont Sr. and Prudence (Vanepps) Clairmont.

He attended Watervliet High School, graduating in the Class of 1945.

He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1946 and served for two years. Upon returning to Watervliet, he was employed with his father at the Watervliet Arsenal.

He later moved to the Rutland area where he raised his family and held numerous jobs including The Tannery in Hydeville, Vt. He was then employed with Telescope Furniture Company in Granville for many years, retiring in 1990.

He belonged to several organizations in Granville, including Granville Lodge #55, Free and Accepted Masons for 40 years, holding various positions within the lodge; Sylvan Star-Skenesborough Chapter #122, Order of the Eastern Star, where he held the office of Patron and Sentinel for several years; lifetime member of the VFW in Granville; and member of the Granville Area Senior Citizens Group.

He enjoyed watching television, especially wrestling, the New York Yankees, and the Jerry Springer Show. He also enjoyed walking his dog, traveling with the senior citizens, and a honeymoon trip to Hawaii in 2006 with his wife, Barbara A. (Stanley) Clairmont.

He was predeceased by two daughters, Ruth Brisson and Linda Bray, a granddaughter Melissa Cameron, and a brother Nicholas Clairmont.

Survivors include his wife Barbara A. Clairmont of Granville; his daughters, Sherry Atwood of Proctor, Vt., Patricia West of Rutland, Vt., Michelle Clairmont of Queensbury, and Lea Ritchie of Fort Ann; three sons, Forrest Clairmont of Hartford, N.Y., and Anthony Clairmont and Joseph Clairmont, both of Rutland, Vt., several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held Friday, July 26, 2013, at 7 p.m. at the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, N.Y., with the Rev. Joseph X. Arockiasamy, pastor of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church of Granville, officiating.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. on Friday until the time of the funeral. Sylvan Star-Skenesborough Chapter will meet at the funeral home at 6 p.m. on Friday for a service, and Granville Lodge # 55 will meet at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. to conduct a service.
