BENNINGTON - Randall Frank "Ted" Briggs Jr., 84, died Thursday, March 27, 2014, at his home.

He was born Dec. 13, 1929.

In earlier years, he was self-employed as a plumbing and heating specialist. He later worked for Ashley-Swift, J.H. Winslow, H.M. Tuttle, and N.E. Air Systems.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, retiring as a sergeant. He was stationed in Bermuda.

As a young man, he participated in motorcycle races, and in 1960, took first place at an AMA national event held in Columbus, Ohio. He also raced in dirt track "scrambles," today known as motocross. He also enjoyed turkey hunting.

Survivors include three sons, Mark of New Hampshire, and Kevin and Danny, both of Bennington; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry of Pownal; and a sister, Barbara of Bennington.

The funeral will be held Monday, March 31, at 12 noon, from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
