Richard B. Schiller, 88, of Rutland, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Rutland Regional Medical Center, after a short illness.

He was born in Newark, New Jersey, on May 7, 1924, the son of David and Claire (Decker) Schiller.
He met the love of his life, Marie Schiller, in high school. They were married shortly after and spent 67 years together until Marie passed away in 2010.
He was a veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart. Dick was an accomplished saxophone player and played in a band for several years while living in New Jersey, as well as working as a TV repairman for Sears and Oradell TV.
When he moved to Vermont, he opened his own TV repair business and worked in security at K-Mart until he retired. He enjoyed being the K-Mart Santa for many years.
He also loved listening to music, watching old movies and sports, especially football.
After retirement, he continued to entertain his family, friends and acquaintances with his sharp wit, even up to the day he passed.
Surviving are his three sons, Rich Schiller and his wife Pat of Colchester, Larry Schiller and his wife Kathy of Rutland and Wayne Schiller and his wife Kelly of Mendon; five grandchildren, Bryan Schiller, Michael Schiller and his wife Elizabeth, Jenna Schiller, Jessica Schiller and Kristen Schiller; and his great-grandson, Kaiden Schiller.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marie, and his sister, Audrey.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rutland.
Private burial will be held in East Clarendon Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Visiting hours will be held Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
