TOWNSHEND - Virginia Mulford "Ginna" Barrett, 90, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Valley Cares Assisted Living in Townshend.

She was born Nov. 29, 1922, in Westfield, N.J., the daughter of Eleanor Naething and Roy Mulford.

She grew up in Westfield, and graduated from Westfield High School.

On April 11, 1942, she married Russell R. "Bob" Barrett Jr., who was serving as a naval aviator during World War II. She lived for a short time in California and Florida during the war, and the couple then made their home in Westfield.

In 1969, they moved to Grafton, where she joined the Grafton Women's Club and the Grafton Historical Society.

She enjoyed skiing, cooking and baking, sewing, trout fishing, the Jersey shore, and collecting antiques. She also enjoyed skeet shooting, crossword puzzles, board games and cards, especially bridge.

She was a champion golfer and won numerous club championships at Echo Lake Country Club in New Jersey, at Stratton Mountain Golf Club, and Tater Hill Golf Club in Vermont.

Later in life, she and her husband wintered in Boca Grande, Fla.

Survivors include three children, Lynn Barrett of Dummerston Center, Russell Robinson Barrett III of Northfield, and Randi Barrett of Elmore; three grandchildren; two brothers, Guy and Randy; and a sister, Mary Lane.

She was predeceased by her husband in 2010, and a brother, Roy.

A service will be held Saturday, June 22, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the Houghtonville Cemetery in Grafton. A reception will follow from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Phelps Barn, Grafton Inn, Grafton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rescue Inc., The Women's Club of Grafton, the Grafton Historical Society or Valley Cares Assisted Living.
