Wayne A. Benware, 71, of Rutland, died Monday evening, Jan. 13, 2014, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

He was born July 18, 1942, in Brattleboro, the son of Arthur and Eva Mae (Blanchard) Benware.

Mr. Benware worked in the camera room at the Rutland Herald for 26 years, and was employed by Hannaford Supermarkets in the produce department for the last 10 years.

He was a 50-year member of the Loyal Order of Moose.

Mr. Benware loved to dance, travel and go to yard sales and casinos.

Survivors include three daughters, Debra D. Clogston, Melinda A. Bassett and Tina Benware; and a son, Kevin A. Benware, all of Rutland; a sister, Sandra Lebo of West Rutland; his companion, Shirley Lawrence of Rutland; three grandchildren, two great-granddaughters, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Rosalie J. Benware, on June 26, 2006.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 17, at 11 a.m. at the Aldous Funeral Home, 44 North Main St., Rutland. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Friends may call Thursday, Jan. 16, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
