Richard E. Acevedo
71, of Rialto, California, passed away May 12, 2014, surrounded by his family.
He was born October 26, 1942, in Colton, the son of the late Carolina Acevedo. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Christine, his two sons, Richard and Joel, daughter-in-law, Maria, and grandson, Andrew. He is also survived by his brothers Robert and Ruben, his sisters Lily, Gloria, Rufina, Annie, Yolanda and Virginia. Preceded in death by his brothers, Arthur and Joseph, and his sister Carol.
He was loved by many, many nieces and nephews.
Richard received his high school diploma from Colton High School, and received his Bachelor's and Master's degree from Cal Poly Pomona. Richard received his CPA license and was the first Hispanic Certified Internal Auditor in the State of California. Richard worked for Kaiser Steel, the Internal Revenue Service, County of Riverside, County of San Bernardino, and City of Colton. He taught accounting at Cal State San Bernardino.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Kiwanis and the Mexican American Golf Association. Richard's hobbies included traveling with his wife, Chris, playing golf with his friends, family, and grandson. He was a dedicated fan of the
Bruins, the California Angels, and an all around sports fan.
Rosary and viewing will be held at Colton Funeral Home in Colton on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, beginning at 5pm. Funeral and mass to be held at St. Anthony's Parish at 1640 Western Avenue, San Bernardino at 10am on May 22, 2014. Interment following at Hermosa Cemetery in Colton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in Richard's name to the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society at
