Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 AM on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic in Sartell for Arthur (Art) Kiffmeyer who died peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Rev. Timothy Baltes will officiate and burial with full military honors will be in the parish cemetery. There will be a lunch provided after the services. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 13, at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in St. Cloud, and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Parish prayers will be at 4:30 PM and the Sauk Rapids VFW Post 6992 will pray at 6:00 PM on Wednesday evening.
Art was born on June 30, 1940, in Luxemburg, MN, to Lawrence and Catherine (Harren) Kiffmeyer. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Berlin Crisis. On June 27, 1964, he married Nancy Denne in St. Cloud, MN. They lived together for 49-1/2 years in the home they built. They had 4 wonderful children. Art was employed for 34 years at DCI in Waite Park. He enjoyed working with Barney's Auction Service as a Ringman. After his retirement, Art spent 4 years working part-time for the St. Francis Xavier school. He was a lifetime member of the Sauk Rapids VFW Post 6992 and a member of the Catholic Aid Association. He would never pass up an opportunity to play cards and enjoy a drink. Art enjoyed watching all Minnesota sports teams, cutting wood, spending time in the garden, and helping his son, Chris, with the derby cars. He especially enjoyed his time with his family and his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; his children, Cheryl (Paul) Kimmes of Sauk Rapids, Craig (Dawn) Kiffmeyer of St. Cloud, Connie (Brian) Reimann of Sartell, and Chris (Genna) Kiffmeyer of Sauk Rapids; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer, Nicole, Kristine, Tyler, Brianna, Cassandra and Taylor; along with 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by the following brothers, Joseph (Rosie), Jerome, Andrew (Donna), Clarence (Judy), Sylvester, Barney (Joey), and sisters, Dolores Phillips, Loretta (Marty) Wieneke, Sally (Ralph) Schleper, Margaret (Billy) Notsch, and sister-in-law Elaine Kiffmeyer.
Art was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edward and Wendelin, and sister, Rosemary.
