Donald L. Mehr, 81

St. Cloud

Donald Leo Mehr died peacefully in his bed on March 5, 2013. Don was born on July 16, 1931 in St. Cloud, MN to Alois and Catherine (Schwagel) Mehr. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Don was a dedicated employee of Honeywell for 34 years, working as an electrical technician. He possessed numerous skills - professional singer, house builder, water skiier (till the age of 81), avid investor, philanthropist and more. Although Don never married and had no children he touched countless lives. He always extended a helping hand to his neighbors, friends and family. He taught his neices, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews the joy of Minnesota lakes. Don was a gem of man and will be missed by all who he touched.

Don is survived by his nieces: Julie Mehr, Amy Barss, and Allison Williams; his nephews: Brian and John Mehr; his grand nieces: Anna, Elizabeth and Emi ly; and grand nephews: Drew, Ethan, Adam, Ian and Micah.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Harry, James and David Mehr.

Don's family is planning an Internment on Friday, March 15 at 3:00 pm at the Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery, Little Falls with full military honors. A memorial service will immediately follow at the Ace Bar and Grill at 423 E St Germain St in St Cloud, MN from 4:30 to 8:00 pm. Memorials preferred to Poor Clare Monastery, Sauk Rapids, MN.
