Ebert Arthur Konz, 87

Pearl Lake

Sept. 3, 1926 - Dec. 29, 2013

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 3, 2014 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Marty (Pearl Lake), MN for Ebert A. Konz, age 87, who died peacefully at Hilltop Care Center, Watkins, MN surrounded by his loving family. Fr. Ralph Zimmerman will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Friday morning at the funeral home.

Ebert was born in Kimball, MN to Anthony and Anna (Nelson) Konz. He served in the U.S. Navy including his time as gunner aboard the USS Brownson DD868 during WWII. Ebert married Ethel (Beaver) Konz on May 5, 1949 in Holy Cross Church in Marty. They farmed and raised their family in this community. Ebert also was employed by Cold Spring Granite Company for 28 years. Ebert joyfully participated in the Central Minnesota TEC and REC programs along with many of his family members. He enjoyed many hours gardening, bowling, jigsaw puzzles, making rag rugs, and cutting wood.

Survivors include his children, Patty Konz of St. Joseph, Charlie (Bev) Konz, Dave (Sue) Konz and Vivian (Randy) Krueger of Cold Spring, Joe (Lori) Konz of Babbitt, Paul Konz of St. Cloud, Donna Hoeschen (fiancé Larry) of St. Cloud, Jeanette (Russ) Thompson of Little Falls, Laurie Konz of Bloomington and Ted (Mary) Konz of Ham Lake; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings are Magnus (Marge) Konz, Freida (Arsene) Provo, Edith (Merv) Palmer, Florence (Norman) Severson and Dorothy (Andy) Maus; sister-in-law, Fran Sommo.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel (March 3, 2011); 2 granddaughters, Jenny Hollermann and Nadine Konz; siblings, Mildred Wicker, Phillip (Lorraine), Elwin (Lorraine), Arnold (Margaret), Vincent (Mildred) and brothers-in-law, Jim Grams, John Langer and Pete Sommo.

The family would especially like to thank the staff at Hilltop Care Center for the exceptional care Ebert and Ethel received as residents there for several years. Also, they wish to thank Rice Hospice staff and volunteers for their services and compassion extended to Ebert and his family prior to his death.
