Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Felix S. Koenig, 94, of St. Augusta will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in St. Augusta. Felix passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at The Gables of Boutswell Landing in Oak Park Heights. Reverend Robert Rolfes will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.
Felix was born on January 21, 1919 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Henry Sr. and Elizabeth (Henkemeyer) Koenig and raised on the family farm in St. Augusta. He was a WWII Veteran, receiving five campaign Battle Stars in the European Theater. He married Angeline Ewert on June 29, 1953 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Felix was a city bus driver in St. Cloud before starting his postal career in St. Cloud. He worked in St. Cloud for 21 years before moving to Brooten where he was a rural mail carrier for ten years, retiring in 1980. He moved back to St. Augusta in 1984. He was a member of St. Mary Help of Christians Parish and Nocturnal Adoration Society, an honorary life member of the St. Cloud Knights of Columbus Council #961, charter member of the St. Augusta American Legion Post #621, a member of the Rural Carriers Association and of the Crosier Apostolates of Onamia.
Felix enjoyed spending time with his family "especially his grandchildren", camping and fishing. He will be remembered for his strong faith, kindness towards others and sense of humor.
Felix is survived by his children, Donald of San Diego, CA, Robert (Mary) of Upland, CA, Myron (Kim) of Brooten, MN Carol (Bruce) Broyles of Oakdale, MN; ten grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Gloria Koenig of Wyoming, MN; and sister, Florence LaPane of Walnut Creek, CA.
He was preceded in death by his wife Angeline in 2005; son, Gerald Koenig in 2010; six brothers and three sisters.
