Garrel 'Jerry' Sherk, age 84, of Foley, died Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church, Foley. The Rev. Jacob Raymond will officiate. Burial will be in the Ronneby Riverside Cemetery with Military Honors presented by the Foley American Legion, Post 298.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 Sunday at the Foley Funeral Home in Foley and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Prayer services will be at 7 pm Sunday evening. Arrangements were made by the Foley Funeral Home.

Jerry Sherk was born September 24, 1929 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Raymond and Marie (Spaulding) Sherk. He married Ruth Rosenberger on February 17, 1951 in Highland Park, Michigan. He was a US Air Force Veteran serving from 1947-1953. Jerry worked as a machinist in Detroit before the couple moved to Foley in 1960. He was a master plumber and owned and operated Foley Plumbing and Heating, now Neighborhood Plumbing and Heating and Air Conditioning until his retirement in 1995. After his retirement, Jerry enjoyed feeding birds and gardening and his honey-do-lists. Jerry was a past Boy Scout leader and past Eagle Scout and remained active in his church communities, especially his Wednesday evening youth groups for over 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth, Foley and daughter and sons; Ruth (Gary) Gruba, Foley; William (Candace), Foley; Scott (Mardel), Foley, 5 grandchildren, Kelly Yaeger, Shantel Brown, Aaron Weikert, Alexander Sherk, Kori Sherk and 3 great grandchildren, Sammy Yaeger, Izabelle Yaeger and Ella Brown, sisters, Corinne Lundgren-Sutterland, Brooklyn Park, Karen Lundgren, Redwood Falls and Charlotte Mechavich, Foley and son-in-law, Ken Weikert of Wanamingo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Linda Weikert and grandson, William 'Keith' Sherk.
